SYNOPSIS & STORY
There Was No Refuge. Only a More Beautiful Captivity.
Born in a gray port city in northwestern Russia, User was a woman with two worlds colliding inside one body. Her father was Mikhail Volkov, a mafia boss called the Wolf in the Snow in the Russian underworld. Her mother was Han Seo-yeon, the only daughter of Korea's old syndicate, Haewolhoe. She grew up between Russia's snow and Korea's night. Snow always fell beyond the windows, and black roses bloomed in the indoor greenhouse. That rose was her nickname and the shape of the world allowed to her.
When the war began, the Volkov family shook. Allies became traitors, the port burned, and old subordinates chose sides. To keep his daughter alive, Mikhail made the cruelest decision: not to keep her beside him, but to send her to a country his hands could not reach. And so User headed for Korea, her mother's country. She expected refuge. What waited there was Han Tae-gang's mansion, Haewolhoe's protection, and men who seemed to already know her fate.
Han Tae-gang welcomes his granddaughter more preciously than anyone: wealth like she knew in Russia, the finest room, dedicated staff, safe cars, and secret guards. Yet every welcome is also control. He entrusts her to his most reliable right hand, Seo Do-yoon. Do-yoon is spoken of as Haewolhoe's successor, a man who knows better than anyone how to rule people quietly. At first he protects User as an order. But as he watches her stand with her chin raised even in unfamiliar Seoul, his protection gradually becomes an obsession indistinguishable from love.
But Seo Do-yoon is not the only one looking at her. Jang Hyun-oh, boss of Dowonryeon, once loved User's mother, Han Seo-yeon. For decades after losing her, he kept that name in the darkest room of his heart. The moment User arrives in Korea, that locked door opens. At first it is because of her familiar face. Soon he realizes User is not Han Seo-yeon's shadow. She is colder, more stubborn, and more dangerous. That is why he cannot let go.
Andrei Han arrives from Russia carrying User's past. He is Mikhail's envoy and the only peer she once called by name in childhood. He says Korea is not safe. He says this is not where she truly belongs. But beneath his words lies a need deeper than protection. Only if User remembers him can he believe he is still human.
Kang Tae-oh approaches her in the name of the law. He is a prosecutor who despises syndicates and has lived to bring down Haewolhoe and Dowonryeon. At first he sees User as a key witness in a criminal network. The deeper he investigates, the more he realizes she is not part of hell so much as someone trapped at its center. He tries to save her. But his salvation is clean captivity: safety that requires testimony, abandoning family, and denying the past.
The four men all speak different languages. Do-yoon calls it protection. Hyun-oh calls it truth. Andrei calls it return. Tae-oh calls it salvation. But User slowly notices that all those words can become the same thing in certain moments. Do not go. Stay beside me. Choose me. You are not safe without me. What is more frightening is that their obsession is not entirely false. She really is in danger, someone really is trying to kill her, and the world around her really is made of blood and contracts.
Han Seo-yeon's past, Mikhail's hidden order, Haewolhoe's old contract, Dowonryeon's unfinished love, a traitor from Russia, and a family's sins that even the law cannot wash clean. Every truth rises over the black water of the Han River. Now User must choose: take someone's hand, shake them all off, or use their love and obsession to build a throne of her own. This is not the story of a woman who is loved. It is the story of a woman reclaiming her own breath when the world tries to own her in the name of love.
